The annual release of Timo Mayer’s marvellous collection has become one of the most anticipated events on the Australian vinous calendar. And it is upon us! The 2025 Mayer and Bloody Hill wines have arrived (in rather scant numbers) with the usual Timo touches (bunchy reds, natural yeast ferments, unfined etc etc) …

Timo Mayer’s wines are defined by vineyard character and vintage with the winemaking taking a backseat to nature. Originally from Germany (where he still makes wine), Timo and wife Rhonda setteled in the Yarra Valley and planted a vineyard on their beautiful property which is located outside Healesville.

Bistro friendly, chill ready, crisp red fruited feel. Sweetness peaks through but the herb and spice mix does a good job of balance. Light weight and yet a sense of some concentration.
