Our Verdict

Old becoming new again. The blending of Pinot Noir and Shiraz was begun by the legendary Hunter Valley winemaker Maurice O’Shea between the 1930’s and 1950’s, culminating in bright, juicy, soft reds that lived on and on and on. There has been a resurgence of the style, and it has spread its wings beyond the Hunter. Like, for example, this splendid example from one the Yarra Valley’s top producers.
