Our Verdict

A very good vintage from what is - almost unarguably - Australia’s definitive cult winery. Although they’d hate to hear that. Wendouree is the rock that refuses to erode amid the changes, surges, technology and pace of moderne life: Tony and Lita Brady make wine and sell it as if time stood still half a century ago. These are wines that demand and repay cellaring a thousand-fold. the Cabernet Malbec is one of the stars (although Wendouree Shiraz seems to get the gold every time). This has more flesh than some of its siblings, and therefore might be approachable a little earlier. But its intensity and structure are the rails that promise a long life.
