Our Verdict
The Oraterra team utilises organic, biodynamic and regenerative management techniques across their vineyard sites.The winery is considered an extension of the vineyard and their farming practices. All wines are wild yeast fermented and made with minimal intervention.
"This is complex from the get go with twigs, forest floor, dewy earth and clove notes dancing around a core of wild strawberry, dark cherry fruit and blood plum fruit. There’s a good lick of spice in the form of black pepper and ground nutmeg that emerge with air along with a rosehip tea savouriness. With some time in the glass, the perfume clicks into place beautifully to show a complex melding of savoury and fruit notes. It’s cool and slightly nervy in the mouth with a tight funnel of firm tannins readied to wrap around a velvety mouth feel carrying dark cherry, clove, forest floor, cassia and earth. Those firm tannins pull the finish in tight like a corset, drawing linearity and long length with cool acidity helping the cause.
