Mount Pleasant Mount Henry Shiraz Pinot Noir 2022
Our Verdict
Australia’s unique blend crafted by Maurice O’Shea in 1937 has now become a cult hero among wine lovers. Sourced from our own vineyards, the shiraz is lightly framed and blended with pinot noir from our 100-year-old block, providing a wine of balance, complexity, and finesse. Mount Pleasant revived this blend in the late 1990s and it has since been emulated across all regions in Australia for its amazing complexity.
Only 500 dozen.
"Smells dark, black-fruited at first, toasty and nutty, oak sits atop with coffee aromas, and it just feels a bit angular. This release seems more Shiraz-y to me than the last year’s one that, even though had a similar blend proportion, looked more Pinot-esque. There are black olive tones with oily herb rub, dark chocolate tannin. Good weight, intensity, length. It seems it doesn’t feel comfortable in its skin yet. Loving the fleshy, chewy black olive, however." 93+ points - Kasia Sobiesiak, The Wine Front
