Following on from the 2021 Jimmy Watson Winner ...
Surprisingly light on its feet for Barossa Grenache. There is a good interplay between the quite pretty, juicy red fruits, a nice we all of fine tannins, and savoury oak.
"Head winemaker Andrew Quin has a deft touch with whatever variety comes his way and this grenache is no exception. This is a fabulous follow-up to the Jimmy Watson winning 2021 and for me, it has superior balance. Sourced from two blocks in Seppeltsfield, it has a small portion of whole bunch (10%) that really delivers some intoxicating fragrance. This is a benchmark style of grenache and brings a whole lot of wonderful drinkability to the table.
Lovely, lifted aromas of blueberry, cherry, dried herbs, spice, violets, briar, earth and cedar. There’s lovely richness, flesh and absolute charm here. Flavours are in the blue and red fruit zone and the nutty oak, zippy acid and sweet spice do their thing admirably and frame the wine superbly.
