Gilbert Picq Chablis Dessus La Carrière 2022
Our Verdict
We really can’t over-state our love for the wines from Domaine Gilbert Picq. They embody everything that is good in traditionally made (not a whiff of oak) chablis; brine, oyster-shell, a whiff of herb-garden, citrus, granny-smith and petrichor. All of that kind of stuff. But there’s much more to the wines, starting with sustainable viticulture and ending with substantial time resting on lees. They truly are beautiful.
A truly beautiful nose, elegance with intensity, a little flesh up front, crystalline minerality behind, and a delicious aftertaste. This has me dancing – probably not a good thing! 5 stars, 92 points - Jasper Morris
This could easily pass for a very good Vaillons with its aromas of white pepper, cool mineral reduction and airy floral and oyster shell nuances. There is both excellent volume and punch to the intensely mineral-driven medium weight flavors that conclude in a chiseled, moderately austere and beautifully long finish. It is rare to find a villages-level delivering this level of quality and it is highly recommended, plus it should repay even extended keeping. Buy it. 91 Outstanding - Allen Meadows, Burghound
"...The palate is where the action is: great concentration and depth, hints of white peach and nectarine, the power loaded at its back end. Give this two or three years in bottle." 92-94 points Neil Martin, Vinous
