Our Verdict
There is a new wine in the Kalleske fold, and it is a ripper! A blend of old-vine Chenin Blanc and Semillon (and I’ve always had a soft spot for Barossa Semillon; Peter Lehmann Margaret … WOW), it comes with a good dollop of solids-work, full Malo and time in some very fresh, very attractive oak. In a different universe I might find that oak obtrusive (which I guess it is. It sings pretty loudly), but there is so much going on in this wine - aromatically, flavour-wise, texturally - that the oak adds a focal-point. A high note off which the rest of the wine hangs. It is bloody delicious, and - like everything Kalleske - it is about as minimally fiddled-with as decent wine can be. Oh yes … it’s also organically farmed.Have a question? Get in touch with us
