Pooley Butchers Hill Pinot Noir 2024 is a powerful yet finely structured single-vineyard Pinot from the steep, north-facing Butcher’s Hill site in the Coal River Valley. Dominant aromas of cocoa and ripe dark cherry are woven with herbaceous notes of sage, oregano and lavender, over subtle earthy tones and a prickle of green peppercorn. The palate is vibrant and concentrated, bursting with layers of cherry, red berries and citrus peel alongside allspice, liquorice, cardamom and dark chocolate. Velvety, graphite-like tannins and a firm acid line give the wine a fine-boned frame, leading into a long, mineral finish that will reward patience in the cellar over the coming decade.
