Chateau Thivin Côte de Brouilly 'Les Clos' Beaujolais 2023
Our Verdict
Very Limited
"This excellent Cote-de-Brouilly is quite closed on the nose but has very good concentration. Plenty of ripe-strawberry, wild-blackberry and violet aromas on the really elegant, medium-bodied palate. The fine tannins build impressively in the long, complete finish, which is velvety and delicately spicy. From wire-trained vines planted between 2004 and 2008 but with a density of 7,000 vines per hectare. From organically grown grapes." 94 Points - James Suckling
"This 2023 Côte de Brouilly Le Clos starts with a reductive, smoky nose that softens with air, revealing notes of plum, brown spice, chocolate and licorice, framed by violet aromas. The dark hues on the nose transition to more vibrant ones on the palate with the influence of its acidity, with layers of sous-bois and eucalyptus for further freshness. Powdery, loose-knit tannins dust the cheeks and provide a boundary for the wine's rounded and expansive profile, allowing the wine to glide seamlessly along palate. This is a standout wine of great depth that I look forward to tasting with more time in bottle." 93 Points - Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate
