OSSA Pinot Noir 2022
Our Verdict
It’s a new venture (begun in 2017) with its first release happening last year from the 2021 vintage. The varietal mix on the 600 hectare farm (ever so close to Swansea on the east coast of Tasmania, just a short drive from Bichenot and Freycinet) is mostly typical (Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay) plus Gruner Veltliner.
WOW - the OSSA 2021 Pinot Noir is stunning. Vibrant crimson in colour, and oozing raspberry, blueberry … all those kinds of fruits, tempered by some stalky bunch characters and just the perfect amount of reduction. It is a wonderful!
"Remarkable depth of colour and richness: a crackingly good wine from a vineyard on the East Coast near Swansea. The wine has concentration and fleshy extract giving it real gravitas, lots of weight and richness and ample soft silky tannins, all without any loss of the lovely fragrant pinot aromatics that typify top Tassie pinot." 98 Points - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
"The 2021 Pinot is another stunningly intense and impressive expression of the variety" MAX ALLEN, THE FINANCIAL REVIEW (Four top wines from Australia’s hottest cool-climate region)
Exceedingly limited. Only 250 dozen produced.
