Andre Clouet Cuvee 1911 Champagne
Our Verdict
The Clouet in the rather special straw livery!
1911 - exactly that many bottles made each year. It comes from the oldest of the PInot Noir vineyards in the Clouet fold, and is made to emulate the champagnes of the Belle Époque. Once again, long lees ageing and an assemblage of older vintages (and perhaps the most evocative packaging of all the champagnes) make it something rather special.
100% Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Clouet’s best plots in Bouzy, fermented in barrel (ex-Sauternes no less) and back blended with a decade-long flight of reserve wine. Then aged on lees for a further 10 years. Golden in colour, wildly complex, rich, decadent, delicious.
